Privacy Policy

The short version

TourneyRook collects the minimum it needs to run chess tournaments: your name and email when you sign in with Google, and the chess data that tournaments produce — pairings, results, standings. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not send marketing email. In fact, the product sends no email at all.

What we collect

• Your account. Signing in with Google gives us your email address and the name on your Google account. You confirm or edit the display name once — it is the name that appears on pairing sheets and standings.
• Tournament data. Rosters, pairings, results and standings for the events you play in or organize. Organizers may enter a participant's name directly for people playing without an account.
• Linked platform handles. If you connect a chess platform account (for example a Lichess username) so online games can be arranged for you, we store that handle.
• Technical basics. Ordinary server logs (IP address, request time) kept briefly for security and debugging.

What we use it for

Running tournaments: pairing rounds, recording results, computing standings and tiebreaks, and showing all of that to the people in the room. Nothing else — no profiling, no advertising, no lookalike audiences.

What is public

A tournament's spectator page — standings, boards in play, results, with player names — is visible to anyone who has its link. That is the point of it: it is the wall chart, projected. If you play in a tournament, expect your name and results to be visible there, exactly as they would be on the wall of the club.

Cookies

One cookie, to keep you signed in. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no third-party advertising cookies.

Where your data lives

Our database is hosted on Supabase (managed Postgres) and the site is served through Cloudflare. Both act as processors for us; neither is permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. It is shared only with the infrastructure providers above, and — if you connect a platform account — with that platform, to arrange your games under its own terms of service.

Your choices

• Correction. Your display name is yours; contact us to correct anything else.
• Deletion. Email us and we will delete your account. Results from tournaments you played may be retained in anonymised form, because a tournament's record also belongs to the other people who played in it.
• Names entered by an organizer. If an organizer listed you in an event and you want that corrected or removed, contact us and we will resolve it.

Children

TourneyRook accounts are for people aged 13 and over. Club events often include junior players; an organizer who enters a participant's name is responsible for having the permission to do so.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and say what changed. Continued use after a change means the new policy applies.
